EHRA Webinar - Mechanisms of arrhythmia and its clinical implications
20 Jan 2012
Format of the course
This one hour webinar includes a presentation and practical clinical cases which are selected for their high educational value.
During the live session, you will then be invited to participate in a live online assessment (voting system) based on the clinical cases. The results (anonymous) will be commented by M. Antz in interaction with L. Mont who will share with you their experience.
This training would not be complete without a "Question & Answer" session. Ask the experts! Submit your questions/comments and receive immediate feedback online.
Target audience
Electrophysiologists in training and cardiologists with pacing maneuvers and 3D mapping background.
Learning objectives
- How to differentiate between automaticity and reentry
- How to identify the arrhythmia substrate
- How to ablate atrial and ventricular arrhythmia depending on their mechanism
Content of the course
M. Antz will mainly focus on reentry in ischemic VT while briefly discussing the following items:
- Explanation of different mechanisms of arrhythmia (automaticity, microreentry and macroreentry)
- Discussion of typical clinical examples for the different arrhythmia mechanisms (focal atrial tachycardia, ventricular extrabeats/VT from the outflow tracts, atrial macroreentry, and ischemic VT).
- Drug administration as well as pacing and mapping manoeuvres to identify the mechanism of a given arrhythmia
- Pacing and mapping manoeuvres to identify the critical substrate for different arrhythmia
- Ablation strategies and settings for successful treatment of arrhythmia depending on their mechanism
