Organizers: Evan D. Rosen, Dawn L. Brasaemle and Bart Staels
January 29 - February 3, 2012 • Santa Fe Community Convention Center • Santa Fe, New Mexico
This conference will cover the latest developments in molecular metabolism relevant to the burgeoning problem of human obesity. Topics of special relevance will include the biology of the adipocyte, novel mechanisms of lipid handling and central control of peripheral metabolism. In addition, new discoveries in epigenetics and fetal programming will be covered. Other topics will be discussed in joint sessions with the Keystone Symposia meeting on Pathogenesis of Diabetes: Emerging Insights into Molecular Mechanisms, including new developments in the genetics of metabolic disease, connections between insulin resistance and inflammation, novel mechanisms of intercellular communication between tissues in metabolism and systems approaches to obesity and diabetes. A scintillating array of world-class speakers has been selected to deliver these insights. Attendees of this meeting will be exposed to the best and the brightest thinkers in this area of critical biomedical importance.
