Call for Topics
Submission deadline: November 30

Submit ideas for topics and faculty for CHEST 2012. All topic suggestions related to pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine will be considered. The themes for CHEST 2012 are “Integrating Technology” and “Leadership Development.” The program committee is particularly interested in clinical topics and education that:

  • Focus on pulmonary infections in the global arena. Examples include the management of extensively drug-resistant TB or multidrug-resistant TB, bacterial resistance and epidemiologic differences worldwide, public health challenges, and influenza A (H1N1) or other pandemic prevention strategies.
  • Lend themselves to focus on development of leadership skills in the pulmonary and critical care field. Examples include supervision of the bronchoscopy suite, ICU, or sleep center; enhancement of administrative skills; and education that assists with career and leadership development within the ACCP or in your professional career.
  • Focus on critical care management, both medical (ARDS, shock, ventilator management, etc) and nonmedical (eg, cardiovascular, surgical, neurosurgical, toxicology).
  • Focus on sleep medicine (eg, obstructive sleep apnea, polysomnography, preparing for a career change into sleep medicine).
  • Focus on national/international issues regarding health-care systems and their impact upon clinical practice.
  • Focus on health-care team-based presentations, presented from the perspective of physician, nurse and/or nurse practitioner, respiratory therapist, pharmacist, and others.

These are only examples of topics the program committee is looking for; it is not an all-inclusive list. The committee anticipates submissions from additional clinical areas.
