The National Obesity Observatory (NOO) has considerable expertise in the evaluation of public health interventions. NOO developed the first evaluation framework for weight management interventions in England and has delivered numerous training events for public health practitioners
This one-day course will provide an introduction to evaluation for those who have little or no experience in this area, and who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and some of the key challenges of evaluation. Whilst the training team will draw on experiences and examples of weight management evaluation, the course will be appropriate for anyone wishing to learn more about evaluating public health interventions in general.
Who should attend?
Public health practitioners, local authority officers with a responsibility for public health or research, external evaluators, commissioners of public health services and service providers.

- Tailoring the evaluation style to the target audience

- Useful evaluation models and frameworks
- The process of developing aims and objectives
- An introduction to the use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies
- How to measure process and impact
- Identification of outcomes and indicators
- An overview of different evaluation designs
- A basic introduction to measurement tools
- An overview of the key requirements for effective report writing and dissemination.
The one-day course, including lunch, refreshments and any course materials is £150.00 per participant.
